New Galaxy S20 series update rolling out, brings no notable changes

No other flagship Galaxy smartphone in recent memory has received as many updates after launch as the Galaxy S20 lineup. Quite a few times, Samsung has released two updates for the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra in a single month, and it is doing so again. The last Galaxy S20 series update brought with it a few camera improvements and the July security patch, and it is now getting a new firmware update with the same security patch. From what we can see, this update — firmware version G98xxXXU3ATG4 — is accompanied by no notable changes or improvements. The only thing that seems to have changed is the service provider code, suggesting some network-related improvements are included. What those are, however, is a mystery. It is also unclear whether this update will be made available globally or if it’s a limited release for some markets. With the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra merely three weeks away from going official, it’s good to see Samsung’s priorities haven’t completely shifted to its upcoming flagship and that it is continuing to support the Galaxy S20 series with the same passion that it has displayed in the last couple of months. Of course, how long that passion will last is something only time will tell.If you own a Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, or Galaxy S20 Ultra in Israel or the UAE, you can download the latest update over the air by tapping Download and install in the phone’s Settings » Software update menu. The update may also be available in other regions, and the procedure to check if it’s out in your country is the same as above. You will also find the latest firmware for the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra in our firmware archive and can use it to upgrade your phone manually using a Windows computer.
