Galaxy Watch 4 facing battery drain, disconnection issues after installing Google Assistant

After months of delays, the Galaxy Watch 4 finally received access to Google Assistant last week. However, the rollout has been anything but smooth. First, users could not install and activate Google Assistant on their smartwatch. Now that they have, they are facing a lot of stability and reliability issues.

Multiple users have now started complaining about battery drain issues on their Galaxy Watch 4 after installing Google Assistant. Users also claim that the “OK, Google” hotword detection is pretty much hit-or-miss. Moreover, some users claim that their Galaxy Watch 4 is disconnecting from their phone, and attempts to re-pair them have been unsuccessful as neither device is able to recoginze the other.

Some users were able to pair their Galaxy Watch 4 with their smartphone only after a hard reset, losing the data on their smartwatch. It is natural for people to get pissed if they lose their health-related data stored on the smartwatch. Setting up the smartwatch again, installing and configuring all the apps, and activating Samsung Pay would be a lengthy process.

Although the new Google Assistant on Wear OS 3 offers answers with a better layout, users claim that Google Assistant on their Galaxy Watch 4 is not faster than on older, Wear OS 2 smartwatches. Hopefully, Google and Samsung would be able to solve these issues within the next few days through software updates.
