Elden Ring’s new The Game Awards trailer focuses on story

“The Elden Ring was broken, but by whom? And why?” That’s the question presented by the new Elden Ring trailer, which debuted at The Game Awards Thursday night.

There was previously little known about the story besides that something called the Elden Ring had been shattered and its significance “will be one of the important themes of the game.” In the trailer, it’s said the Elden Ring’s shattering brought about a world shrouded in darkness. Demigods claimed the shards and it triggered a war

While a lot of this was revealed in a plot synopsis announced in June, we actually get to see some of it in the trailer, which you can watch below.

The trailer, which was revealed by host Geoff Keighley and his pot friend, focuses more on the story of the game, which was crafted by A Song of Ice and Fire writer George R.R. Martin and FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki.

Some lucky fans were able to get hands-on with Elden Ring gameplay in a recent network test at the beginning of November. While it was only a small taste, we found that it successfully married world design and tight gameplay encounters. We also found it to be more accessible than previous FromSoftware games.

The game is set to come out in the already-crowded month of February 2022. It’ll be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
