Samsung UK blatantly invites Huawei customers to switch sides

Huawei’s influence in the mobile market is waning by the month and the company’s prospects are unlikely to improve anytime soon. Even so, according to research, Huawei remains the third most preferred smartphone brand among British consumers after Apple and Samsung. Regardless of whether this is because many people haven’t caught up with the news of Huawei lacking Google’s support or because they don’t care much about the software experience, the Huawei brand continues to have some weight behind it.

Samsung is seemingly aware of this and the company recently took a jab at Huawei in one of its recent promotional tweets for the UK market. Samsung UK tweets that Galaxy Note 20 Ultra buyers can benefit from a £350 discount when trading in their old Huawei phones. The company was very specific and even mentioned that the £350 trade-in value applies to the Huawei P30 Pro series of devices released last year. Samsung outright advises customers who want to keep their Google Maps app data intact to switch to the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra instead of a one of the new Huawei flagships.

The Korean tech giant knows that an increasing number of Huawei customers are now looking for alternative brands and it wants to win them over with attractive trade-in deals. You could say that Samsung isn’t necessarily attacking Huawei’s latest flagship phones directly with its tweet but it does feel a lot like the company is nudging Huawei’s entire mobile business to roll further down the hill.

Samsung UK offers £350 trade-in value to customers exchanging the 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB Huawei P30 Pro for the new Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The company also offers £250 for the standard Huawei P30 and the Huawei Mate 20 Pro series, as well as up to £200 for the Huawei P20 Pro.
