Samsung debuts new service that shows smart home controls in your TV

During CES 2024, Samsung unveiled two new services that will help you manage all of your Samsung and SmartThings-compatible products right from your TV interface. Samsung took the wraps off a new service called Now+, which brings smart home controls into the TV interface.

In the official blog, Samsung noted that the Now+ service will not only allow you to control your smart home devices, such as fans, light bulbs, ACs, etc., but also use your smartphone as a remote control.

Apart from Samsung Now+, the South Korean giant also unveiled Daily+, which will feed all your information to Samsung and Bixby from your SmartThings connected devices to show you relevant apps on your TV. The Daily+ will allow the TVs to detect smartphones that are within range and allow users to use them as remotes.

No information is available about when these features will roll out

To control the smart home devices, a SmartThings TV Quick Panel will pop up on the side of the TV interface that will list all the core functions, not interfering with the main content being displayed on the TV. Samsung also described a feature that will turn on the TV as the user approaches it to showcase some critical information about your connected devices.

You will also be use to use this feature to show the home camera feed, temperature, and remaining time in your washing machine if you have all the relevant appliances. For now, there aren’t many details available on whether these features require a specific TV model or devices and if you’d need a specific Samsung Galaxy phone model to use the remote control feature.
