Meizu 16T debuts with 6.5-inch OLED, Snapdragon 855 and 4,500 mAh battery

Meizu’s latest flagship phone is out and it’s called Meizu 16T. It has almost everything you’d need from a flagship device and at a super aggressive price.

The handset is built around a 6.5-inch OLED screen with no notches or cutouts. The upper bezel is a tad thicker and it’s enough to house the front-facing camera, the earpiece and the usual set of sensors. The screen is also TÜV-certified for low blue light emissions. The resolution is 1080 x 2232px with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The fingerprint reader sits beneath.

A Snapdragon 855 chipset with Adreno 640 GPU drives all the pixels on the screen. Memory configurations range from 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal UFS 3.0 storage up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Unfortunately, there’s no microSD card slot available and there’s no 3.5mm audio jack either.

On its back, the phone carries a triple-camera setup that consists of a 12MP main sensor coupled with a lens with f/1.9 aperture. The main sensor is flanked by an 8MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP depth sensor. The front-facing camera is 16MP with f/2.2.

The Meizu 16T is offered in three colors – Orange, Blue and Green and the asking price for the standard 6GB/128GB configuration is CNY 1,999, which roughly translates to $280. Adding CNY 300 more ($40) buys you the 8GB/128GB model and the beefiest 8GB/256GB variant asks just CNY 2,499 ($350).

The phone is currently available in China through Meizu’s official web store and it remains to be seen whether the handset will make it outside of its home market.
