ASUS announces Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition

ASUS just announced the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition laptop. The device commemorates the first ASUS laptop being launched into space, which occurred 25 years ago. The laptop features a ZenVision rear display that can show customizable messages, animations, and notification information. The Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition starts at $2,000 and is available now.

The Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition runs on up to a 12th Gen Intel Core processor and Intel Iris Xe graphics. It features 32GB of RAM, a PCIe SSD, and supports Wi-Fi 6E as well.

The display of the new Zenbook is a 16:10 2.8K OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and support for HDR. In addition to the main display for general PC usage, the laptop features a monochrome OLED display on its back. The smaller display can show an animated space theme or more pressing information, such as the time, date, and battery status of the device.

While the Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition probably won’t be on a shuttle any time soon, ASUS claims that the device has been “tested to space-grade standards.” Specifically, the laptop has been tested to withstand vibration and temperature using the US Space Systems Command Standard SMC-S-016A testing protocols. Whether that makes the Zenbook one of the best rugged laptops is yet to be seen.
