Xbox Series X could launch on November 6

Earlier today, Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox Series X is scheduled to launch at some point in November, narrowing down further from the vague “Holiday 2020” that had been present beforehand. Going beyond that, we may now have an exact date of Nov. 6, though this requires a little digging.

The Xbox Series X is likely not the only console Microsoft is launching in the holiday season. Rumors have long persisted of a cheaper and weaker next-generation entry codenamed Project Lockhart. Leaked box descriptions for a Robot White Xbox Series X controller mention compatibility with Xbox Series S make this console all-but-confirmed.

Now, according to Tom Warren at The Verge, the boxes for these controllers have stickers that say “Do not sell or display before November 6.” It’s possible this is a placeholder date but it’s also possible this is the exact day the new Xbox consoles will go on sale.

We’ll be sure to provide an update whenever we get an official announcement. While Halo Infinite was originally positioned as the premiere launch title for the next generation of Xbox, it has been delayed to some point in 2021 due to the global pandemic and work-from-home impacting the development cycle.

The Xbox Series X launch lineup will now consist of titles like Gears Tactics and The Medium, with the obvious addition of third-party titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
