The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX is a new premium Xbox headset

Turtle Beach is a known quantity in the gaming accessories space, and makes a wide variety of products compatible with practically every major gaming platform there is. Turtle Beach is primarily known for its excellent gaming headsets, of which the company produces numerous different models targeting various price points and use cases. On Monday, Turtle Beach announced the latest gaming headset to join its growing lineup.

The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX is an upgraded and improved variant of the already-fantastic Stealth 700 Gen 2 for Xbox and PC, known for combining Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth capabilities into one well-rounded headset. With the MAX variant, Turtle Beach’s focus is on improved build quality, hugely increased battery life, and superior cross-device compatibility to ensure that, no matter where you play, the Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX headset can come with you.

The MAX features a slightly more durable (yet visually identical), as well as a gorgeous new cobalt colorway. It also doubles battery life over the standard Stealth 700 Gen 2 headset with a rated 40 hours of juice compared to the latter’s comparatively meager 20 hours, with fast charging capabilities through its USB Type-C port. Finally, despite being a licensed Designed for Xbox product, the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX drops Xbox Wireless support in favor of a proprietary 2.4Ghz wireless dongle and improved Bluetooth connectivity.

With a $50 price increase over its less premium sibling (coming in at a cool $200), the Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX headset may not be worth it for players that already possess the standard variant. However, players that regularly move between gaming platforms may find a lot of value in the MAX edition, which is compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Mac, and can easily change between wireless and Bluetooth connections with the flip of a switch.

The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 for Xbox has already secured its rightful place on our list of best Xbox Series X|S gaming headsets, and it remains to be seen if its more premium sibling can do the same. With massively improved battery life and superior cross-platform connectivity, however, the Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX certainly makes a case for itself. The headset officially releases on May 8, 2022, but you can preorder now from a handful of retailers.
