Switching from iPhone to Galaxy phones gets easier, but there’s a catch

If you’ve been thinking of switching from an iPhone to a Galaxy (or any Android) smartphone, your life is about to get easier. Google has updated the Switch to Android app to work with all smartphones running Android 12. Earlier, the app only worked with Google’s Pixel smartphones.

You can now install this app on your Apple iPhone, connect it to your new Galaxy smartphone (wired or wirelessly), and transfer all the critical data. It supports the transfer of alarms, call logs, contacts, device settings, SMS, MMS, iMessage texts and media, custom wallpaper, WhatsApp chat history (with media), DRM-free music, and free apps that exist on the Play Store.

Unfortunately, this won’t be possible if you have a Galaxy (or any other Android) phone running an older version of Android.

Earlier, the transfer of WhatsApp chat history used to be a nightmare for anyone switching from Android to iOS and vice versa. However, over the past year, Facebook has made it easier to switch data from one platform to other. The option to transfer WhatsApp data from Android to iPhone was launched a few weeks ago.
