Samsung’s new mid-range phone might be its most well optimized yet

Samsung’s mid-range phones have gotten better over the years, but when it comes to performance, they can be rather underwhelming. Mid-range Galaxy phones have fairly powerful processors these days, but Samsung is unable to properly optimize the software to take advantage of all the power available under the hood.

The Galaxy A54 is the most recent example of that. The Exynos 1380 is an excellent mid-range chip but the A54 has an annoying amount of lag and stutter out of the box. The same was true for the Galaxy A53 last year, and it took a few updates for the performance on both phones to stabilize.

But even after software updates, the A53 and A54 aren’t the fastest or smoothest mid-range phones out there, which is something that has been a point of contention among some folks. And it looks like Samsung might have taken the criticism to heart, as one of its new upcoming mid-range phones is possibly the most optimized one yet.

I can’t say the name of this phone as we’re currently under embargo, but I can say that I’ve been having a great experience using it. It might be the only mid-range Galaxy phone that has given me flagship vibes when it comes to performance, and what’s interesting is that Samsung hasn’t used an overly powerful chip here but instead seems to have made optimizations on the software side.

In fact, this phone might be better than even the Galaxy A52s. For those who don’t know, the A52s is one of the fastest mid-range phones Samsung has ever released, but it’s only because the Korean giant was forced to use the rather high-end Snapdragon 778G chipset because of the global chip shortage during the COVID pandemic. Subsequent mid-range Galaxy phones have not been nearly as quick or smooth, but I feel that’s finally changing with this new device.

And we will be keeping my fingers crossed that this isn’t just a one-off case (like the A52s) and Samsung will be focusing on doing the best possible performance optimization on all future mid-range devices.
