Samsung’s Home Hub is a smart display to control all SmartThings devices
Despite announcing the Galaxy Home smart speaker three years ago, Samsung never actually shipped it. Two years ago, the company revealed the Galaxy Home Mini, and it had a limited release as well. Now, the company has announced the Home Hub, a smart display to control all SmartThings-compatible devices. As expected, it will only be launched in South Korea, at least for now.
The Home Hub is a smart display, similar to the Amazon Echo Show 15 and the Google Nest Hub Max. However, it stands vertically on a dock to show you the controls for all SmartThings-compatible devices in your home. It can control your AC, air purifier, chimneys, dryer, lights, refrigerator, security cameras, sensors, TV, and other things. It even shows your favorite devices front and center. Plus, you can run automations and routines with a single tap.
Unlike the Echo Show and the Nest Hub, which focus on entertainment and voice assistant features, Samsung’s Home Hub keeps its focus on offering a central place to control all your smart home devices. It also integrates the SmartThings Energy service to show energy consumption by all compatible devices and provides recommendations to save energy. It is unclear whether it features the Bixby smart voice assistant.
The device will only be available in South Korea, and the company has promised that the Home Hub will launch in its home country in the first half of 2022.
