Samsung One UI 6.0 update: Which Galaxy device will get it first?

Google kickstarted Android 14 beta testing for Pixel smartphones a few days ago, and in a few months, Samsung will do the same for Galaxy devices. Samsung’s version of Android 14 with come with One UI 6.0, adding new features on top of everything that’s included in Android 14.

Once beta testing is over, Samsung will start rolling out the stable version of Android 14 and One UI 6.0 to the public. But which Galaxy device will be the first to get the One UI 6.0 update?

Galaxy S23 series virtually guaranteed to get One UI 6.0 first

As Samsung fans already know, the first Galaxy device to get the next big One UI upgrade will be the company’s latest Galaxy S flagship, the Galaxy S23, unless the company changes the trend it has established over the years. The same goes for the beta version of One UI 6.0 (and Android 14). Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra owners will get to test drive the new software before anyone else through the One UI 6.0 beta program.

But, as it has done in previous years, Samsung will also extend the program to other flagships, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 that are coming out later this year and pretty much all Galaxy S, Note, and foldable flagships that are eligible for the update. Some mid-range phones could also get the One UI 6.0 beta – it’s impossible to be sure which ones, though devices like the Galaxy A53 and A54 are possible contenders.

One UI 6.0 beta testing could start in August

As for the timeline, August is a safe bet for the initial One UI 6.0 beta release, as the One UI 5.0 beta debuted in early August last year. The stable public version should start rolling out within the next two months. It might even come out sooner, but we will have to refrain from speculation here as nothing is ever guaranteed when it comes to release dates for major OS upgrades.
