Samsung makes wide One UI 5.1 release twice as official

Samsung started seeding the One UI 5.1 update for more Galaxy devices earlier this week, but the company is now making this new release official. The company’s EVP and Senior Executive of the Software Office announced through a press release that “One UI 5.1 is the up-to-date example of Samsung’s commitment to providing Galaxy users with the latest innovations as soon as possible.”

Sure enough, even though One UI 5.1 debuted with the Galaxy S23 series, the update started rolling out to older Galaxy smartphones before the S23 lineup even went officially on sale. The three new flagships announced at Unpacked 2023 are available for pre-order until February 17, after which Samsung will no longer offer any pre-order bonuses and free storage upgrades. Nevertheless, older Galaxy S flagships and the latest foldable phones have already received One UI 5.1 sooner than anyone expected.

Samsung underlines some of the best One UI 5.1 features

As for One UI 5.1, the official announcement highlights some of the latest additions, including the closer integration between the Camera and Expert RAW apps, the enhanced Photo Remaster feature, the new dynamic weather widget, and the latest expansions to Modes and Routines, to name a few.

Another huge addition to One UI 5.1 is Multi Control, which enables richer interconnectivity between select Galaxy Book laptops and Galaxy smartphones and tablets. This new One UI 5.1 addition allows users to share the mouse, keyboard, or trackpad of a Galaxy Book laptop to control their connected smartphones and tablets.

Multi Control is available for phones running One UI 5.1, tablets running One UI 4.1 or above, and Galaxy Book laptops released in 2021 or later, featuring either Samsung Settings version 1.5 (Intel) or Samsung Settings version 3.3 (ARM).

So far, Samsung has released One UI 5.1 for the Galaxy S20 and S21 series, including Fan Edition variants, the Galaxy S22 lineup, and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4.
