The Poco X3 Pro units that have been sold in India are now the next in line to get the MIUI 12.5 update. There is already a rollout happening, although a limited one which is pushing the new software to a few devices.
If there are no huge issues discovered, then a wider release will follow. According to Poco India director Anuj Sharma, “the reason for the limited release is to monitor if any possible network or app that’s not part of our test case behaves different from intended”.
The new build which is now going out to a lucky few is labeled MIUI 126.96.36.199.RJUINXM, and it’s an 830MB download. It includes the June 2021 security patches, which is almost current and thus automatically nice to see on a Xiaomi / Redmi / Poco phone since they’re usually quite far behind on these.
As with every other MIUI 12.5 update, this one too should bring with it a faster feeling in operation thanks to “custom device model adjustments”, instant response to gestures, “20 times more rendering power” (whatever that means), and an overall “lighter, faster, and more durable” interface.
Additionally, the Notes app has received a huge update with support for a gesture shortcut, excerpts, dynamic layouts, mind maps with complex structures, and new tools for doodling and sketching. There are a few bug fixes too, having to do with notifications and notification badges.
