People staying at home get double XP in World of Warcraft for a month

World of Warcraft needs no introduction, as it’s still one of the most popular and successful MMO’s of all time. The news for World of Warcraft recently is a month-long double XP event that applies to pretty much everyone, and even stacks with existing heirlooms. The event started March 20, 2020, and continues until April 20, 2020. It’s likely that this event was brought about because of the increasingly large number of people who find themselves stuck at home self-quarantining from the coronavirus (COVID-19.)

It’s a small gesture from Blizzard in response to the outbreak, but should be appreciated by veteran players. For new or returning players, however, the game still remains daunting and nearly inaccessible, with or without double XP pushing you along a little bit. From our Jez Corden’s interview with a World of Warcraft developer, “The new player experience coming with Shadowlands is intended to be…a standalone moment in time that easily flows into Battle for Azeroth, as well as other expansions to come in the future.”

It’s possible that the upcoming Shadowlands expansion will help newcomers ease into World of Warcraft, but for now this double XP benefits dedicated players more than anything else. If you want to read Blizzard’s blog announcement, you can find that here.

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth

15-years still going strong

Despite loot RNG, under-tuned skills, and a broken leveling experience, Battle for Azeroth’s end-game raids and dungeons remain a ton of fun to experience with friends, especially if you’re not new to the game.
