Gears 5 economy will continue to be tweaked, confirms Xbox’s Rod Fergusson

Gears 5 is a third-person shooter from The Coalition. The studio has worked on Gears of War 4 in the past, and it wanted to make the sequel an even bigger adventure. The game is also more advanced on a technical front. According to Gears 5’s Multiplayer Design Director, the franchise features 60 Hz servers for the first time.

While there’s a lot to love about Gears 5, the in-game economy isn’t one of them. Despite the fact that it features cosmetic-only items, the grinding to earn them is unreal. A lot of players are complaining about this, and Studio Head Rod Fergusson said that the team will continue to tweak it.

Fergusson said, “We’re learning as we go. This is a completely different economy… so it will take a little time to work through any issues. Our first attempt is not our last and we will continue to evolve until we get it right.” Hopefully, this means that the team will make it easier to acquire items soon.
