Galaxy S22 to get fourth One UI 6.0 beta update this week

According to Samsung’s own release timeline estimates, the Galaxy S22 series is expected to get the stable One UI 6.0 update this week. However, it doesn’t look like that’s happening, as the company has announced its plan to release the fourth One UI 6.0 update to the Galaxy S22 series in South Korea.

The official forum moderator from Samsung has announced that the company is planning to release the fourth One UI 6.0 beta update to the Galaxy S22 series this week. There appear to be some camera-related issues in the third One UI 6.0 beta update, and the company is planning to fix them with the next beta release. The moderator also announced that Samsung will announce if there will be any changes to the release schedule for the next beta update.

Samsung has released the One UI 6.0 beta update to the Galaxy S22 series in Europe, India, Germany, South Korea, the UK, and the US. If you have already enrolled in the One UI 6.0 Beta Program for your Galaxy S22, you can keep checking for the next beta release by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install.

The Galaxy S23 series received the stable One UI 6.0 update after getting nine beta releases. If that is anything to go by, the Galaxy S22 might not get the stable One UI 6.0 update before the end of this month. However, it is also possible that Samsung might not release as many beta updates to the Galaxy S22 series as it did for the Galaxy S23 series. In that case, we can expect Samsung to release the stable Android 14 update before the end of this month.

One UI 6.0 features

One UI 6.0 is based on Android 14, and it brings several design changes and new features. It introduces a brand-new Quick Panel layout, slightly revamped notifications, a new media player widget with waveform animations, and more lock screen clock widget fonts and styling options. It also brings an option to access the expanded Quick Panel quickly by swiping down from the top right part of the screen. You can sort notifications by time.

Samsung has simplified the names of some of its apps by removing the ‘Samsung’ branding from app names. There is also a new two-hand drag-and-drop gesture to select and move multiple files from one place to another. Pop-up windows now stay open even when you access the multitasking menu. Samsung has also introduced brand-new emojis, new widgets (Custom Camera and Weather Insights), and improved design of stock apps.

The camera app gets a new and simple design with the One UI 6.0 update. It now offers more camera watermark alignment options, enhanced photo and video capture resolution options, a level line for better alignment, a new Auto FPS option for videos, and quality optimizations. It also brings easier document scanning. The gallery now has easier controls for image editing, enhanced story views, and the option to clip subjects from an image as stickers.

The built-in video editor now has a dedicated app icon in the app drawer and option editing options. You can draw on custom stickers, new text and background styles, and undo and redo options. The video player now has easier controls and playback speed options. The weather app has also received a better design and more weather information. Samsung Health has a better home screen that is customizable.
