Galaxy S21 FE gets October 2023 security update in the US
Earlier this week, Samsung rolled out the October 2023 security patch to the Galaxy S21 FE in Europe. Now, the company is pushing the same update to the carrier-unlocked and carrier-locked versions of the smartphone in the US, which carry model numbers SM-G990U and SM-G990U1.
The version of the new firmware for the carrier-unlocked version of the Galaxy S21 FE is G990USQS9EWI2, and that for the carrier-locked variant is G990U1UES9EWJ1. As mentioned earlier, it brings the October 2023 security patch which fixes 12 issues. The update might also contain bug fixes and performance improvements. The update is rolling out across all major network carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Other variants of the phone should also get the update soon.
Ideally, your Galaxy S21 FE should automatically notify you about the latest software update. However, if it hasn’t done so, you can check for the update manually by going to Settings » Software updates and clicking on the Download and install button. If you don’t see an update even after checking manually, you can download the new firmware from our database and install it using Odin.
Galaxy S21 FE will get Android 14 (One UI 6.0) update soon
Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 FE 5G in January 2022 with Android 12 (One UI 4.0). The company released the Android 13 (One UI 5.0) update to the device in December last year. However, the phone is yet to get the Android 14 (One UI 6.0) update. Samsung has promised to offer four Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates to the device. That means the Galaxy S21 FE will also get Android 15 and Android 16.
