Galaxy S20 series starts getting January 2022 security update in more markets

Earlier this week, Samsung released the January 2022 security update to the Galaxy S20 series in the US. Now, the company has started rolling out the new security update more widely.

Galaxy S20 users in Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Nordic countries, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Southeast Europe, Spain, Switzerland, the Baltic region, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and the UK can update their Galaxy S20 series device to the latest software.

The new software update for the 5G variants of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with firmware version G98xBXXSCEUL9. For LTE variants of the phones, the firmware version is G98xFXXSCEUL9. It brings the January 2022 security patch that fixes various vulnerabilities related to privacy and security. It might also fix general bugs and improve the stability of the device.

If you are a Galaxy S20 series smartphone user in any of the countries mentioned above, you can update your device by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
