Galaxy S20, Note 20 series get a new firmware update and security patch

Samsung is now rolling out the October 2021 security patch to a handful of Galaxy devices released last year, namely the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 lineups. The company began deploying the new security patch a couple of days ago, and yesterday, Samsung released the update for its latest foldable phone models in South Korea.

Similarly, Samsung is now distributing the new firmware update for the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 lineups in its homeland. And as always, the update will eventually reach more markets once the company determines that the first release can’t cause any unforeseen issues.

The new firmware update should improve more aspects beyond security

Judging by the firmware numbers accompanying these new updates, Samsung should be improving more than just the security level of the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series. We can’t confirm the new additions and changes for the time being, as the update is limited to Korea, but more details should emerge soon. Either way, the updates for the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 lineups can be identified by version numbers G98xNKSU1EUI3 and N98xNKSU1DUI2, respectively.

Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series customers in South Korea should now be greeted by an update notification. The same notification will eventually reach other markets. Users can also check if the update is available to download by opening the Settings app on their phones and navigating to Software update.
