Black Shark 3 5G confirmed to have 65W charging, 5,000 mAh battery

Xiaomi’s gaming brand Black Shark is preparing a handset with Snapdragon 865, QHD resolution of the screen and up to 120 Hz refresh rate. Today the brand manager posted a poll on Weibo, asking which battery charging + capacity + cycles is the best for gaming devices, effectively revealing the setup of the Black Shark 3 – 65W fast charge, 5,000 mAh battery that goes 0-100% in 38 minutes and that can maintain its charge over 800 full cycles.

We know this is the right answer of the poll because all three other are combos of an existing smartphone. 55W fast charge for a 4,500 mAh power cell comes with the Huawei Mate X, 65W + 4,000 mAh is the Oppo Reno Ace cell, and 55W + 4,440 mAh is the solution vivo is planning to implement in the iQOO 3.

Also, all of these succumb to degradation after 600 cycles as per the Xiaomi exec, meaning Black Shark 3’s power cell is going to be 1/3 more durable, providing proper endurance for a longer time.

Back in November we spotted a certification for a Xiaomi phone with a 66W charger codenamed MDY-11-EF. In a new listing at the CCC, we see a Black Shark phone will be compatible with the very same charger, effectively providing another confirmation about the impressive charging speeds.

Some rumors suggested we should also expect 16 GB RAM, but we’ll know for sure once the phone is announced.
