ASUS wants its new Vivobook 13 Slate OLED laptop to be your TV

Are you looking for a laptop-slash-TV that grabs the established industry rulebook, throws it on the ground and burns it with gasoline, then goes to the extreme lengths of scribing an entirely new book to replace it with? Because that’s what ASUS claims to be offering with its Vivobook 13 Slate OLED. As stated in its press release, “this fun-filled 2-in-1 Windows 11 marvel — the world’s first 13.3-inch Windows detachable laptop — rewrites the rules to make it easier to enjoy everything, everywhere.”

A fun-filled Windows 11 marvel, you say, ASUS? Strap in, because this machine packs a detachable OLED touchscreen display with a “cinema-grade” 100% DCI-P3 gamut, DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

Its 13.3-inch length is being angled by ASUS as one more reason why this detachable screen makes for a good OLED TV in addition to a display for a solid laptop packing a quad-core 3.3 GHz Intel processor, 256GB SSD, and a max of 8GB of RAM.

The Vivobook 13 Slate OLED will arrive sometime in December 2021 for a starting price tag of $600. Expect “Artist Editions” to come in 2022, brought about via collaborations between ASUS, Steven Harrington, and Philip Colbert.
