ASUS’ new 360Hz ROG monitor may help you kill latency in your games

With NVIDIA’s new GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards sucking up all of the oxygen during its event, you’d be forgiven if you missed some of its other announcements. One of the more interesting was the reveal of the NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer, a tool that lets gamers see which of the components in their setup are causing the most latency between clicking and the action taking place on-screen. The only catch? You need the right hardware to use it.

Followign the announcement, ASUS revealed the new ROG Swift PG259QNR, a ridiulously zippy gaming monitor that incorporates the necessary hardware to use the Reflex Latency Analyzer. This essentially cuts out the need to use expensive tools that, for example, esports teams might use to make sure they’re getting the best system latency possible or troubleshoot a problem component. From ASUS:

Analyzing system latency in this way requires a significant time investment and is aything but accessible. The ROG Swift 360Hz PG259QNR, on the other hand, makes this invaluable information immediately accessible and practically foolproof to obtain. Esports gamers walking up to unfamiliar PCs equipped with ROG Swift 360Hz PG259QNR displays at tournaments can even enable the RLA before a match to see whether a given system is delivering the low end-to-end system latency they need to perform at their best.

Beyond its compatibility with Reflex Latency Analyzer, the ROG Swift PG259QNR comes with a 360Hz refresh rate and 1ms gray-to-gray response times. It also comes with an IPS display that ASUS claims sports “vivid” colors. We’ll have to wait to see those claims in action, but this is one monitor that serious competitive gamers might want to give a look.

There’s no pricing of release date information available yet for the ROG Swift PG259QNR. If you’re less into competitive gaming and concerned with getting creative work done, ASUS also announced the ROG PG329Q monitor, which strikes a balance between blazing refresh rates and great color accuracy.
