Apple iPhone 13 to add an orange color to its palette

For every new iPhone generation Apple picks a new hero color – last year it was blue, before that it was green. This year it could be orange as can be seen in the latest renders by Ian Zelbo (who also rendered the MacBook and MacBook Air).

This is a rather bright color, isn’t it? Keep in mind that the Apple typically splits the hero color in two, i.e. the “Pacific Blue” of the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max is less saturated than the “Blue” of the 12 and 12 mini. This was the case with the 11-series as well (“Midnight Green” vs. “Green”), plus the finish is different (matte for the Pros and glossy for the other two).

The renders here show the vanilla iPhone 13, which means that the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max can get a more restrained paint job – say, bronze instead of orange. Or this could be one of the colors for the regular iPhones (they tend to have brighter hues) that has no counterpart in the Pro range.

By the way, we’ve already seen a photo of an iPhone 13 mini prototype in blue, plus renders of the iPhone 13 in Product Red. Besides these, we will probably also get the standard white and black/gray colorways as well.

Color aside, the iPhone 13 generation will mostly stick to the same design with a few exceptions – a smaller notch, slightly bigger camera bumps on the back and a few other details (e.g. LiDAR on all models).
