Android 10 rolling to Xperia 10 and 10 Plus (53.1.A.2.2)

Spare a thought for Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus owners who have been waiting months for the Android 10 update. Sony initially said that the phones would receive an update from “early 2020 onwards”, so some may be aggrieved that May 2020 isn’t exactly ‘early 2020’. But, better late than never they always say, so we’re happy to report that Android 10 has indeed started to roll for the 2019 Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus devices.

It is a limited rollout right now with only select regions/carriers seeing the firmware. For those lucky enough, the update will move the build number from 53.0.A.14.47 to version 53.1.A.2.2. This also adds the 1 March 2020 Android security patches. We always say be careful what you wish for – a number of Xperia XZ2/XZ3 owners have been complaining over poor performance since updating to Android 10. We don’t know if the same applies here, so if you own an Xperia 10/10 Plus, please share any screenshots and impressions in the comments below.
