Amazfit GTS 2 Mini is coming and it looks a lot like a Bip

Huami looks set to bolster the Amazfit smartwatch ranks once again after details of the Amazfit GTS 2 Mini were spied on the FCC.

The folks at XiaomiToday found details on a smaller version of the GTS 2 in an FCC certification, which suggests a launch in the US is being primed.

Images provided in the application also included CE markings, which are required for being sold in Europe, suggesting it will be landing there too.

Wareable verdict: Amazfit Band 5 in-depth review

As far as what we can expect, the images point to a change in look with Huami ditching the bezel-less look of the GTS 2 for a design that gives it more of the look of its budget Amazfit Bip watch.

There’s a solitary physical button, but it lacks the curved case edge that features on the GTS 2.

Amazfit GTS 2 Mini

There’s no indication of what features the Mini will be packing, but it’s likely it’ll get some but not all of what was included on the GTS 2.

We’d hazard a guess that things like built-in GPS and a heart rate monitor will be on board as these feature on even the cheapest Amazfit watches.

It could be the case it misses out on some of the new GTS 2 features like the new music player and maybe see a drop down in screen quality.

Its appearance at the FCC would suggest that a launch may be close and could see it land over the coming months. The Amazfit GTS 2 was only announced in October with the original landing earlier this year. That was joined by the Amazfit GTR 2, so we wouldn’t be surprised at all if we saw a GTR 2 Mini follow it as well.

It’s been a pretty busy year for the Huami-owned brand. Along with the GTS 2 and GTR 2, we’ve seen several new Bip variations, the outdoor-centric T-Rex, its retro-style Neo watch and new Amazfit Band 5 and Amazfit X fitness trackers. We’ve also had two smartwatches launch under its Zepp brand with the Zepp Z watch also on the way.

The emergence of the GTS 2 Mini is clearly just the latest move to dominate the wearable space.

We’ve been impressed with its aggressively priced additions that have landed so far, so we’ll be intrigued to see if the GTS 2 Mini will continue that trend. We’ll keep you posted when it Huami makes it official.
