For those with memories of the original Xbox, the iconic “Duke” controller is likely one of the first that comes to mind. The gargantuan gamepad defined the early days of the Xbox console, known for its oversized silhouette. While Microsoft later followed up with a slimline alternative, the big first-generation design remains one of the most infamous controllers in history.

Accessories marker Hyperkin released its recreation of the Duke in 2018, revised with a modern twist for Xbox One and Windows 10 devices. We called it a “beautiful monstrosity” in our full review, with a design that remains faithful to the original, but adapted to account for current Xbox controller inputs. It also features an animated AMOLED screen, a 3.5mm port for headsets, and a nine-foot USB cable to connect to your Xbox One console.

It’s now discounted to just $49 via the Microsoft Store, compared to its usual $70 RRP. Both black and translucent green variants are included with the sale.

While the Duke’s burly physique falls back almost two decades in ergonomics, this beastly gamepad otherwise surprises with its refresh. It boasts all the modern necessities for Xbox One gaming, with high-quality construction, especially suited to the growing list of backward compatible titles. It even works on Xbox Series X and Series S, as with all existing Xbox One controllers.

Its current discount provides one of the lowest prices we’ve seen, valid through October 14 via the Microsoft Store, complementing the full list of Xbox Prime Day deals throughout the week.
