[Video] We checked out Samsung’s new QD-OLED gaming monitors at CES 2024

Ahead of the ongoing CES 2024 expo, Samsung unveiled its new lineup of Odyssey OLED gaming monitors. They include newer sizes and form factors. The new OLED gaming monitor lineup includes the Odyssey OLED G6, Odyssey OLED G8, and the Odyssey OLED G9, and we had the chance to experience them in person during our CES 2024 tour earlier this week.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 Gaming Monitor

The Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD) is Samsung’s smallest OLED monitor ever, measuring 27 inches diagonally. It uses Samsung Display’s third-generation QD-OLED panel, featuring QHD resolution, OLED Glare Free coating, 400 nits brightness, a 360Hz variable refresh rate, and 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time. It has DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification and features AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. Connecting a gaming console and a gaming PC to it won’t be an issue, as it features two HDMI 2.1 ports, DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB hub with two ports. It has a metal stand with height, pivot, swivel, and tilt adjustments, and there is RGB lighting on the back.

The Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD) that you can see in the video above has a 31.5-inch QD-OLED panel with 4K resolution, a 240Hz variable refresher rate, 400 nits peak brightness, and 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time. It has AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and DisplayHDR True Black 400 certifications. It has a metal stand with height, pivot, swivel, and tilt adjustments. It also features fancy RGB lighting on the rear. So, apart from its size and resolution, is it any different than the cheaper Odyssey OLED G6? Yes, it is.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 Gaming Monitor

Spending more on the Odyssey OLED G8 gets you a bunch of smart features. One of them is Multi Control, which lets you use the same keyboard and mouse across a Galaxy Book laptop, Galaxy Tab, and the Odyssey OLED G8. You can transfer images and text across those devices using the same keyboard and mouse. You also get HCA, Matter, and SmartThings Hub, which means you can control all the compatible smart home devices right from your monitor. It runs Tizen OS, and you get a remote controller to operate the monitor’s software and stream music and videos using all the popular streaming apps.

There is also Samsung Gaming Hub that brings cloud streaming games directly to your gaming monitor, and you can pair it with ‘Designed for Samsung Gaming Hub’ certified accessories like the PDP Replay Midnight Blue to play games.

All three monitors will be launched in a few months.
