[Video] Galaxy S22 Ultra year-end review: Best phone of 2022?

Throughout the year, we have looked at the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s various features in detail on several occasions, and you can find many of our thoughts on this flagship phone on our YouTube channel. But now, as the end of the year is closing in, it’s time for what might be the final in-depth look at the Galaxy S22 Ultra. We’ve prepared a year-end review of Samsung’s flagship, and you can check it out in our latest video below. Call it a Galaxy S22 Ultra review after ten months, if you will. Is this the phone of the year?

As usual, we’re analyzing various facets of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, from its design, large S Pen-enabled display, and sound quality to general performance, camera, battery life, and software. We don’t want to spoil the video below, but it is worth noting that we have used the Exynos 2200 variant for our year-end review.

Our general thoughts on the Galaxy S22 Ultra haven’t changed in that we still can’t help but view this device as a reincarnation of the Galaxy Note series. The display’s side edges curve around the phone, similar to later Note models, which can be a bit of an issue. However, the quality of the display is unmatched.

The S22 Ultra is our Galaxy phone of 2022

The Galaxy S22 Ultra still carries the most powerful camera system Samsung has ever offered. Things only improved over the year, especially with the One UI 5.0 update, which added a few new cool tricks and some useful tweaks to the video and photo editing apps.

Performance levels are on par with the usual flagship phone, which is not a bad thing in itself, but it’s obvious that the AMD partnership and the Xclipse 920 GPU didn’t break any new ground in this department. We still wish Samsung offered a Qualcomm chipset everywhere, and thankfully, it looks like the company will do so in 2023 for the Galaxy S23.

The software is fantastic, even better now with the One UI 5.0 update. Battery life is good, but we still recommend using the 25W charger rather than the 45W charger if you don’t want to spend extra. The difference is minimal.

In conclusion, we picked the Galaxy S22 Ultra as our Samsung phone of the year for many reasons, even though the phone is not perfect in every aspect. For many more details on the matter, you can check out our new video below.
