Synology’s new DiskStation DS1621xs+ is a NAS for serious data storage

Synology announced the new DiskStation DS1621xs+ network-attached storage (NAS) enclosure, which includes some killer specs for anyone wanting a capable NAS server for storing all their data. This new enclosure comes with a quad-core Intel Core Xeon D-1527 processor, supports ECC memory, and has a 10Gb port.

Rocking the same Xeon processor as other Synology data center hardware, the DS1621xs+ is able to hit more than 3.1 GB/s and 1.8 GB/s for sequential read and write speeds. It’s designed for serious data storage loads with multiple users accessing the server simultaneously. Paired with ECC memory, you’ll be able to depend on this NAS.

This NAS has six 3.5-inch drive bays, allowing you to hit a capacity of 96TB (6x 16TB HDDs), but if you need even more space, up to two additional Synology DX517 expansion units can be connected to the enclosure for a total of 16 bays. As well as the drive bays, the DS1621xs+ rocks two M.2 2280 slots for NVMe caching.

Synology announced a price of $1,599.99 with availability commencing today.
