Sprint’s Galaxy Note 8 is getting the January 2020 security patch

The Galaxy Note 8 on Sprint is receiving a new firmware update containing the latest January 2020 security patch. The package doesn’t seem to include any new features, but it should fix a number of moderate and high-risk vulnerabilities within Android OS, as well as 17 issues found within Samsung’s own software. You can read more about the January 2020 security patch here. The latest package rolling out now for Sprint’s Galaxy Note 8 is identified by firmware version N950USQS7DSL2. As mentioned above, the latest release doesn’t bring any new features to the table, but that’s not a big surprise for a relatively aging flagship. The Galaxy Note 8 launched with Android Nougat and has already been updated to Android Oreo, followed by Pie. Therefore, it already received its last major update and it won’t make the jump to Android 10. Even so, security patches should continue to roll out on the device for a couple more years. The update is now available in the United States for the Galaxy Note 8 on Sprint, and you can check manually if the January 2020 security patch is waiting for you by opening Settings on your phone and checking the Software update menu. As always, you can also check our firmware archive, download the firmware, and install it on your phone manually.
