Samsung’s Phone app should have this new Google dialer feature

The Phone by Google app now shows calls carried out over WhatsApp on the Recent page, which is the page that contains call logs (as spotted by @Kishore9196). The dialer app mentions ‘WhatsApp’ under calls carried out over WhatsApp, and under regular calls (calls made using the cellular network), the app shows the name of the network over which they were carried out, to distinguish between the two types of calls. It also shows a call button on the call log for you to make that WhatsApp call once again directly from the dialer app.

WhatsApp Calls In Phone By Google

There’s no information at the moment if the new feature is a part of Phone by Google or WhatsApp. We also don’t know if the user encountered the latest change with the beta or the stable versions of the two applications. Hopefully, we will get to know that as more people start noticing this change. Considering the latest change, I expect Phone by Google to also show calls from other messaging platforms, including Signal and Telegram, soon.

If you are using a Samsung Galaxy smartphone/tablet, you might be using Samsung’s Phone app for making regular calls, which doesn’t show WhatsApp calls. We hope that it also starts offering this feature. Even if it doesn’t, you can always change your default dialer from Samsung Phone to Phone by Google by downloading the app and then going to Settings » Apps » Choose default apps » Phone app and choosing Phone by Google. Just so you know, the iPhone’s dialler has been offering this feature for a very long time.
