In terms of what these renders tells us about the watches, the Watch 5 looks pretty similar to the Watch 4 with two physical buttons on the side of the case and what appears to be a very similar looking workout-friendly strap.

The renders do show the rear of the device, which suggests there will be GPS, LTE support, a sapphire crystal lens and it’ll feature a 5ATM water resistant design.

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Classic model looks set to be replaced by a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and will come in black or titanium looks with or without the option of LTE connectivity.

Those rear cases also reveal sizes we can expect with 44mm and 45mm sizes seemingly confirmed. Blass also suggests the Watch 5 will come in a smaller size, which would mirror what Samsung did with the Watch 4.

The largest Galaxy Watch 4 model option featured a 44mm case while the largest Watch 4 Classic had a 46mm case. The addition of a 45mm version suggests it’s not just a name change for the Pro version.

The watch faces don’t reveal much, but Blass says all of the watches will run on Google’s Wear OS 3.5 with Samsung’s One UI Watch overlaid on top.

Samsung is rumored to be preparing a big unveiling of its new smartwatches alongside new phones at an event in August, which is tipped to take place on the 10 August. That’s when pre-orders are rumored to start with shipping following on 26 August.

If these renders are the real deal, then it doesn’t suggest Samsung is making sweeping changes with the design, which is no bad thing as that was definitely a strength of the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic. All eyes though will be on the software and how Samsung’s collaboration with Google on Wear has evolved since it debuted last year.

Hopefully we’ll start to see more of Fitbit’s smarts start to filter in as we also head into a part of the year where we will also see the launch of the Google Pixel Watch, Apple’s next smartwatch and a host of other smartwatches that’ll come packing this latest version of Google’s smartwatch OS.
