Samsung Galaxy M44 makes its international debut in South Korea with surprising chipset
Samsung has just made the Galaxy M44 official for its home market of South Korea, though not under that name. Over there it’s called Galaxy Jump 3, but it should be the same phone that we’ll (hopefully) soon see internationally as the M44 – the “M44” part of the SM-M446KZKAKTC model number gives it away as an M44 under another name.
The design is exactly what you’d expect from a Samsung mid-ranger in late 2023, with three camera circle-islands on the back and a circular LED flash to the right in between the topmost and the middle cameras. The screen has a V or U shaped notch (we still can’t tell the difference) and a significantly thicker bottom bezel than the rest.
All par for the course, then. What isn’t in any way usual to see in such a device is the chipset it’s powered by – the Snapdragon 888. That SoC was introduced in 2020, and we can only assume that Samsung had a few lying around collecting dust in a warehouse somewhere and finally decided to put them to good use now.

Those who aren’t fans of the Exynos 1xxx line will definitely breathe a sigh of relief, as even if the 888 is three years old, it was the highest-end chip of its time in the Android world, so performance should be more than you’d normally expect from an M4x device.
The Galaxy M44 launched in South Korea pairs that chip with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, a 6.58″ 1080×2408 PLS LCD screen with 120 Hz refresh rate, a 50 MP main rear camera flanked by two 2 MP sensors, a 13 MP selfie snapper, and a 5,000 mAh battery. It measures 167.7 x 78 x 9.1 mm and weighs 216g.
