Samsung expects to see crazy demand for the Galaxy Z Flip 4

Samsung is the king when it comes to the flip or foldable smartphone segment. The success of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 speaks volumes for themselves. Now, a report suggests that the company is eyeing to replicate the success of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 because Samsung has increased foldable screen orders for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 by 70%.

According to the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), Ross Young, Samsung’s display manufacturing arm has got an order to ship 8.7 million foldable panels for the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 4. To give you some comparison, Samsung Electronics ordered 5.1 million foldable screens for its Galaxy Z Flip 3 last year.

Samsung is buying 70% more panels than it did for Galaxy Z Flip 3

Discontinuing the Galaxy Note series and merging it with the S-lineup was the biggest decision that the company has made in a while. Well, the merger was done, and the Galaxy Note series was discontinued because Samsung sees foldable and flip phones as part of its mainstream smartphone lineups.

Some may argue about the durability of these phones, but the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 sold like hotcakes last year. This itself confirms that consumers are interested in foldable and flip phone designs other than the traditional slab ones. Besides, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 were the first foldable smartphones to come with an official IP rating for water resistance.

Shipments of this huge foldable screen order are expected to begin in April for the Galaxy Z Flip 4. This would mean that we may see the new foldable launch sometime in August or September of this year. There is no confirmation as of yet on this though, but the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be launched alongside the Z Flip 4 for sure.

Details on what the Galaxy Z Flip 4 might bring to the table are slim at this point in time. It’s expected that the cover display size might be increased and that the device might also get a bigger battery.
