Samsung e-shop confirms Portable SSD T5 EVO specs and price
Samsung’s new Portable SSD T5 EVO is getting really close to its release. The SSD is now listed on the company’s online store in the USA next to a price tag and an “Add to cart” button. The only thing stopping prospective buyers from getting the T5 EVO at this moment is that the buy button doesn’t work. Not at the moment, but we’re guessing it soon should.
For now, we’re only seeing the 8TB model listed on the company’s website, and it’s even a little bit cheaper than initially rumored. It costs $649 instead of $655.
Samsung is also expected to sell the SSD T5 EVO in storage configurations including 2TB and 4TB, which will likely cost around $189 and $349, respectively.

Samsung’s official store page for the Portable SSD T5 EVO confirmed the overall design and specifications.
The SSD T5 EVO is very compact, measuring 93 x 40 x 17.7mm and weighing 102 grams. At the moment, we’re only seeing the color black.
Affordable and compact with tons of storage, but how rugged is it?
Per TB of storage, the Portable SSD T5 is considerably cheaper than the SSD T9 Samsung announced last month. And that’s because it is slower. It can top 460 MB/s sequential read/write speeds through the USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface.
Other specs include AES 256-bit hardware encryption, compatibility with a wide range of devices, from PCs to smart TVs, game consoles, and cameras, and compatibility with the Samsung Magician Software.
A previous leak indicated that the Portable SSD T5 EVO is rugged. And, indeed, the official product page says the T5 EVO has a shock-resistant rubber design providing fall protection up to 6 feet (1.8 meters). The SSD also has an operating temperature of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius.
The only thing left now is for Samsung to start selling the device, which we’re guessing will happen sooner rather than later.
