Rainbow Six Siege crosses 75 million players

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege crossed 75 million players, per Ubisoft’s conference call accompanying its Q1 2021-2022 financial results. Ubisoft previously reported that the ongoing squad-based shooter crossed 70 million players back in early February. New Operators are still being added and support is continuing, with cross-play added to the game on June 30.

Upcoming PvE (player-vs-environment) spinoff title Rainbow Six Extraction was recently delayed to January 2022. Ubisoft also recently announced Tom Clancy’s XDefiant, a 6v6 title drawing on characters and factions from past Tom Clancy games.

On the conference call, Ubisoft noted that it intends to launch new Assassin’s Creed content every year. This doesn’t mean a full new game but instead can refer to new story expansions for existing games, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which will see expansions in 2022.

Ubisoft also reiterated that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Infinity is still in very early development. Our own sources currently indicate the game is being aimed for a 2024 release window, though a lot could change. Reports indicate some employees at Ubisoft are frustrated with a lack of change in leadership positions, with several alleged abusers still in key positions, despite a wave of firings and resignations in 2020.
