Netflix is raising the subscription prices in the UK and Ireland

Netflix bumped up its subscription prices for the US and Canada in January. Now a similar fate has befallen subscribers in the UK and Ireland, who are looking at a small price bump for the basic plan and а £2/€3 increase for the the premium tier. The table below has the breakdown.

Netflix has around 14 million subscribers in the UK and 600K in Ireland, according to Ampere Analysis. The most popular package is the standard subscription, which offers streaming in HD quality to up to 2 devices. That used to cost £6/€8 now goes for £7/€9.

This change applies immediately to new subscribers, while current subscribers will be notified 30 days before the new prices affect their account.

The higher prices will allow Netflix to “continue investing in best in class UK productions and offer a wide variety of curated quality shows and films.” Content produced on the British Isles includes hits like The Crown, Bridgerton and Emily in Paris.
