Need a new router? You really need to check out this Prime Day deal.

It’s easy to forget about that dusty piece of hardware behind your couch, but it could be the reason your Netflix stutters and your laptop drops its Wi-Fi signal at the most inopportune times. Even the best, most expensive internet plan from your ISP won’t make a difference if you’re using an old router. TP-Link’s Archer A7 is a great router for a lot of people due to the performance to value ratio. In fact, it makes our list of the best Wi-Fi routers available now. Thanks to Prime Day, that value just got even better; it’s currently $28 off the regular price, bringing to total down to just $52.

The Archer A7 is a Wi-Fi 5 router with 2.4GHz and 5GHz radios to better handle the traffic of a standard household. You’ll be able to stream video, download files, and even game using the router; just don’t expect the same high performance from a dedicated gaming router or Wi-Fi 6 router.

It should be able to cover up to about 1,500 square feet, but I’d bank more on about 1,000 square feet to play it safe. In my review, where I gave the Archer A7 the Windows Central Recommended Award, I noted that even with the router in the far corner of my 1,000 square-foot house, it was still able to reach to the basement’s far corner. Not bad at all.

The connection is stable, it has full Alexa support for linking up with your smart home gadgets, and there’s a USB-A port on the back for connected devices. This isn’t going to handle huge bandwidth needs, but if you and one or two other people need something reliable and affordable, it’s going to get the job done easily. And with Prime Day pricing, it’s down to as low a price as I remember ever seeing.
