Microsoft celebrates the holidays with new Windows 11 wallpaper

A lot of holidays are on the horizon, including (but not limited to) Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa. With so many different festivities on the way, Microsoft has taken the path of least resistance and partnered with an artist to produce a wallpaper that celebrates the holidays exclusively by celebrating the cold, snowy season — depending on where you live — they all take place in.

The artist in question is Kervin Brisseaux, who teamed up with Microsoft to make the abstract Windows 11 holidays-themed image. You can download the wallpaper and read about Brisseaux’s inspiration for it at Microsoft’s blog post on the subject, though if you want a teaser of the contents, here’s an excerpt:

The light and bright elements of the visual story Brisseaux imagined for his background track with the new color palette and softer, more approachable graphics of Windows 11. Soft floral elements and ribbons play on the operating system’s modern and engaging rounded geometry, while invoking holiday gift-giving traditions.

This is far from the only wallpaper Microsoft has provided in recent memory. In the same week that its holiday wallpaper released, the company also made its Windows 11 SE background available for download. It’s a pastel offering with a bit more dimensional texture to it if you’d rather have something sporting visual depth and structural rigidity as opposed to the holiday option’s flatter and deliberately less-defined aesthetic.

Alternatively, if all this art talk has you hankering for something even fancier than a Brisseaux work, consider opting for a JPEG of a Rembrandt.
