iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will reportedly be in very short supply upon launch

According to a new report, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and especially the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be in very short supply once they launch in September. This apparently has to do with problems with screen manufacturing at LG Display.

Those problems stem from the fact that a new manufacturing process is being used in order to shrink the bezel size. It’s apparently a similar issue to one Apple also faced for some Apple Watch models in the past.

The displays for the iPhone 15 Pro (and, again, especially the Pro Max) made by LG are reportedly failing reliability tests during a process in which the display is fused to the metal shell. Apple is currently tweaking the design of the displays made by LG in order for them to pass the aforementioned tests, and it also still has Samsung-made displays that it can use for assembly.

And yet, these issues will, allegedly, lead to there not being many units available right from launch. The iPhone 15 Pro Max will be the most difficult to get, followed by the Pro.

A separate report from earlier today claimed that Apple would delay the launch by a few weeks, but this new source contradicts that, going with the shortage hypothesis. Either way, something’s up with those displays and it’s impacting Apple’s launch plans.
