Good Lock’s Samsung Keyboard theming is broken on One UI 6

Good Lock users who have applied a custom theme to the Samsung Keyboard using Good Lock’s Theme Park app and updated their device to One UI 6 (Android 14) may have noticed that the keyboard theme isn’t working as intended.

If you’re having that issue, you’re not alone. Good Lock devs have confirmed that the Theme Park theming functionality for the Samsung Keyboard app is broken on One UI 6, and the reason is One UI’s color palette feature.

Turning color palette off is a temporary fix for the issue

With One UI 4, Galaxy devices got the ability to have the colors of the app icons and other elements of the user interface match those of the wallpaper, allowing users to change the look of the UI by simply setting a new wallpaper. The OS automatically generates various color palettes from the wallpaper’s colors and provides you the choice to use the one you want.

On One UI 6, having the color palette feature enabled is messing with Good Lock’s ability to theme Samsung Keyboard. However, Good Lock devs have confirmed that they will be releasing a fix for the issue in a future update.

For now, the only solution to make Theme Park themes work on the Samsung Keyboard on One UI 6 is to turn off the color palette feature. To do so, open the Settings app on your device, navigate to Wallpaper and style, tap Color paletteand tap the toggle to disable it. Once you have done that, go back to the Theme Park app and reapply the keyboard theme you wish to use.

Expert’s note: These are exactly the kind of issues that necessitate a major update to Good Lock with every new version of One UI. Good Lock modifies many aspects of the software on a system level, which means every Good Lock feature has to be tested for proper operation on a new version of One UI. Good Lock has already received plenty of updates improving compatibility with One UI 6, but it’s clear that there’s more work to do.
