Galaxy XCover Pro for frontline workers now available in the USA

The Galaxy XCover Pro designed for frontline workers is now available on the Verizon Wireless network in the USA. The smartphone originally unveiled in January is equipped with a push-to-talk button and comes pre-loaded with Verizon Push To Talk Plus. The device also integrates with Microsoft tools including Shifts, Tasks, and Praise, and later this year, the dedicated PTT button will allow users to communicate through Microsoft Teams.The smartphone has NFC capabilities and features from TEEgris, allowing it to double as a mobile point of sale (mPOS) terminal. It also integrates software and hardware solutions from various partners including Infinite Peripherals, KOAMTAC, ProGlove, and Scandit.User-replaceable battery with 15W fast chargingUnlike the company’s consumer-grade Galaxy smartphones released in recent years, the XCover Pro has a user-removable battery. It has a capacity of 4,050mAh and benefits from 15W fast charging.Other features include a 6.3-inch FHD+ display, an Exynos 9611 octa-core chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage expandable by up to 512GB via microSD.The device has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, two programmable keys, NFC, Google AR Core support, Android 10, and is wrapped in an IP67 MIL-STD 816G-certified body.In its latest announcement, Samsung reveals the Galaxy XCover Pro is dual-SIM ready as far as the hardware goes, however, dual-SIM capabilities will be made available in the USA through an MR (maintenance release) update scheduled for the second half of 2020.The smartphone is available for purchase online for $499, while retail store distribution via Microsoft, Samsung, and Verizon ‘will begin at a later date.’
