Galaxy S23 Ultra cameras could be even better by launch time!
Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen numerous bits of early evidence showing that the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a bonkers camera system. Leaked sample photos have shown the camera’s prowess in different areas, including zoom processing, low-light photography, and overall details. The Galaxy S23 Ultra camera system is looking pretty good, but it might be even better once the phone goes on sale.
Samsung will reportedly release an ISP (Image Signal Processor) update by the time the Galaxy S23 Ultra goes on sale, according to leaker Ice Universe. In theory, this update should improve the camera performance even further, albeit it’s unclear how much or precisely in which areas.
Nevertheless, this could mean that the sample photos that have leaked so far don’t reflect the quality of the final product. And that the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s camera system may be able to perform even better once it receives this mysterious ISP update and goes on sale.
In terms of raw hardware, Samsung has upgraded most of the camera sensors for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, save for the telephoto ones. The device will ship with two Sony IMX 10MP telephoto units, a 200MP ISOCELL HP2 primary shooter, and a 12MP ultra-wide Sony IMX564 sensor. The selfie camera appears to be based on a rather mysterious 12MP ISOCELL 3LU sensor.
Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S23 Ultra at Unpacked on February 1 and launch a pre-order period of roughly two weeks. The phone can already be reserved online, and prospective buyers who do so can earn $50 in Samsung Credit.
