Galaxy S23 FE rumor will make camera lovers happy

More evidence is piling up in favor of the upcoming Galaxy S23 FE getting an upgraded primary camera. Samsung does seem to be working on a new Fan Edition device, and in the image sensor department, at the very least, this phone might turn out to be more similar to Samsung’s high-end devices than previous FE models were.

As you might recall, we previously reported on a rumor that explored the possibility of the Galaxy S23 FE getting an upgraded 50MP camera. Lo and behold, our friends at Galaxy Club now claim to have confirmed the suspected 50MP primary camera upgrade through a reliable source.

This 50MP unit may be the same as the one employed by Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S23. However, not much is known about the other camera modules the Galaxy S23 FE will supposedly employ. But regardless, a 50MP main camera is not where the phone’s flagship-like qualities should end. The next FE phone may also get a flagship-grade chipset.

Galaxy S23 FE may be closer to a flagship phone than previous models

Previous rumors suggest that the Galaxy S23 FE may also be powered by the Exynos 2200 chip, which debuted with the Galaxy S22 flagship series. Since Samsung has had plenty of time to optimize its Exynos 2200 SoC, the Galaxy S23 FE may offer a more-than-decent experience thanks to this chipset. And combined with a 50MP camera, the Galaxy S23 FE may very well punch above its pay grade.

As to why Samsung would choose the Exynos 2200 SoC, firstly, it’s a powerful-enough chip for the FE’s price range, and secondly, it may help boost the company’s chipset business, which is in dire need of a lift-up.

As to when Samsung might want to release the Galaxy S23 FE, that’s still a mystery. But our colleagues speculate that the next Fan Edition phone might come to the market months after the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Flip 5 will, or even as late as early 2024. By the way, Samsung’s upcoming foldable phones could be announced in July rather than August, at an earlier-than-usual Unpacked event.
