Galaxy S22 grabs February 2024 security update in Canada, USA

Samsung released the February 2024 security update to the Galaxy S22 last week. However, the new update was limited to just the European countries back then. Now, Samsung has released the update more widely, and Galaxy S22 units in Canada and the USA have started getting the software update.

February 2024 security update rolling out to Galaxy S22’s carrier-locked units in the USA

The new software update for the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra are getting the update in the USA. It comes with firmware version S90xUSQS4DXB1 and is available on Dish, Metro PCS, and T-Mobile networks. In Canada, the new update for the Galaxy S22 series comes bearing firmware version S90xWVLS4DXB1. It is available on all carrier networks in the country. It includes the February 2024 security patch that fixes 72 security vulnerabilities found in the previous software version. The update doesn’t bring any new features or performance improvements.

If you have a carrier-locked Galaxy S22 series device in the US or Canada, you can now check for the new software update. To do that, you need to open the Settings app on your smartphone, navigate to Software update, and tap Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the new firmware file appropriate for your phone’s model number through our firmware database and flash it manually. You need access to a computer running Windows OS and the Odin tool. You also need to back up all your important data at a secure location and be well-versed in the manual firmware flashing process.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 series in early 2022 with Android 12 onboard. The devices in the lineup received the Android 13 update in late 2022 and the Android 14 update in late 2023. One UI 6.1 update will be released to the phones in the coming months.
