Galaxy Fold vs Galaxy Z Fold 2: Samsung ups its foldable game

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 has gone official today, at least partially. Samsung didn’t fully reveal everything, but it did tell us enough to be very excited about its second book-like foldable device. The Galaxy Fold, despite all its faults, is amazing, and Samsung has made some major improvements for its sequel.Perhaps the biggest Galaxy Fold pain point that’s fixed with the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the size of the cover display. The Z Fold 2 has a modern 6.23-inch cover display that provides loads more screen estate than the Fold’s comparatively tiny 4.6-inch cover display. The inner display, meanwhile, has grown by 0.3 inches in size to 7.6 inches and supports 120Hz refresh rate, which means everything will seem a lot smoother and faster when you’re navigating the user interface. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 also has the amazing Flex Mode that Samsung introduced with the Galaxy Z Flip, so its foldable display can stay open at multiple angles. The hinge that makes the folding action possible is also a lot safer compared to the Galaxy Fold thanks to the addition of nylon fibers to keep fine dust out of the device’s innards. When it comes to specs, Samsung has yet to publish the complete Galaxy Z Fold 2 spec sheet. We know it is powered by the Snapdragon 865+ processor and will come in 256GB and 512GB storage configurations, but the rest of the specs will be revealed in the next few weeks. Till then, you can compare what we do know about the Galaxy Z Fold 2’s hardware with the original Galaxy Fold by using our new device comparison tool at this link.
