Galaxy A52s gets big new update, possibly with One UI 5.1.1 features

A lot of Samsung smartphones have received a big update in the last few weeks. These updates have all been at least 1GB in size, suggesting that they include some of the One UI 5.1.1 features that debuted with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Samsung hasn’t been very clear about what these updates are about, though, and has provided changelogs that don’t reveal anything interesting. And the company is doing it again with the latest update for the Galaxy A52s.

The Galaxy A52s is receiving a new update — firmware version A528BXXU5EWH9 — in some markets, and users will have to download almost 1.4GB over the air to install it on their phone. The changelog doesn’t say what is included in this update except for the September 2023 security patch, though we can assume that it adds some One UI 5.1.1 features.

Those features might include new watermarking and editing options in the Gallery app, improved sleep insights in the Samsung Health app, enhanced security in Quick Share through a Private Sharing option that lets you limit resharing of files you share with others, and improved memory management through the Device care menu found on every Samsung Galaxy smartphone and tablet.

Whether or not these features are actually included in the update is something you will have to check once you have installed it on your Galaxy A52s. You can look for and download the update from your A52s’ Settings » Software update menu, or you can download the complete firmware from our archives and use a Windows PC to install it on the phone.

Keep in mind that the software information section in your phone’s settings will continue to say One UI 5.1 after installing the update, as Samsung only uses the x.1.1 version numbers on its foldables and tablets.
