Exclusive: Galaxy M01 in development with 32GB storage, Qualcomm SoC

We have exclusive news on a brand new budget Galaxy M smartphone that’s currently in development, called the Galaxy M01. Essentially, it’s the ‘M’ equivalent of to the Galaxy A01, and we have it on good authority that it’s being developed for India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Russia. Our sources have also revealed that the Galaxy M01 base model will have 32GB of storage, which will presumably be expandable via microSD. In markets where the device will go on sale, buyers will be able to choose between three color options including black, blue, and red.The Galaxy M01 will be powered by a Qualcomm SoCFor the time being, we don’t have any specific details on the chipset, but it will be made by Qualcomm, according to a Geekbench entry from earlier today. The smartphone has model number SM-M015G in the benchmark database and it’s being referred to as having a ‘QC_Reference_Phone’ motherboard, proving that the device is deep in development. However, it’s unclear exactly what Qualcomm chipset the Galaxy M01 will have. The benchmark claims that the silicon has a total of eight ARM CPU cores with a base frequency of 2.02GHz, but it doesn’t explain if those eight cores are identical or if they follow a heterogeneous architecture. Either way, keep in mind that synthetic benchmark scores are not very revealing at this point in the phone’s development. The same benchmark also reveals that the Galaxy M01 has 3GB of RAM and runs Android 10. No outdated firmware for this little bad boy, figuratively speaking. We don’t have any details on the size of the screen, but it will likely hover around the 6.4-inch mark given its DNA, i.e., the Galaxy M10 and M10s.This is all the information we have about the Galaxy M01 for the time being, but stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated as soon as we find out more.
